Chester is a walled city and the county town of Cheshire. It has a population of 118,200 and a current average sale price of £125,000. The city is located near to the Welsh border.

Chester was originally a Roman fort. Sites of interest include the Grade II* listed Chester Town Hall and Grosvenor Museum, which was established in 1886. St Peter's Church dates from the Middle Ages. Chester Castle overlooks the River Dee and was built in the eleventh-century. The Falcon is a Grade I listed public house in the city and was a house originally built in the thirteenth-century, before being rebuilt in the sixteenth- and seventeenth-centuries. Chester city walls are a major tourist attraction, while Eastgate and Eastgate Clock is a prominent landmark. Chester Cathedral is Grade I listed and was constructed during the Middle Ages. The Old Dee Bridge is the oldest bridge in Chester, having been built in the fourteenth-century.

Grosvenor Park is a public park in the city and consists of 20 acres. Chester Roman Amphitheatre is Grade I listed and is a scheduled monument. It dates from the first century. Other attractions include Chester Zoo, which is one of the largest zoos in the United Kingdom. Storyhouse is a complex that holds a cinema, theatre, library and restaurant.

The University of Chester has an enrolment of 14,900 and gained University status in 2005. There are several primary and secondary schools in Chester, including The King's School, which was established in 1541. Cheshire College offers further education courses.

There are sports facilities for sports including football, hockey, golf and rugby.

Chester railway station offers services to destinations including Liverpool, London, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham. There are bus services in operation in the city.
